Who is running for Senator?

Senator: Quick Explainer
A senator is an elected member of the States Assembly chosen by voters across the whole Island. This gives senators a broad mandate to represent Jersey’s overall interests, unlike deputies or constables who represent specific areas. Senators debate and vote on laws, helped shape policy, and hold the government to account. Although all members have equal voting power, senators often had higher public visibility due to their Island-wide election.

Who is running for Constable?

Constable: Quick Explainer
A constable (or Connétable) is an elected representative who leads one of the island’s 12 parishes and also sits in the States Assembly. Each parish elects one constable, meaning voters choose someone to represent their local area rather than the whole island. As well as taking part in debates and voting on laws in the Assembly, constables have important local responsibilities, including overseeing parish services, dealing with community issues, and managing matters such as roads, waste, and local administration. This dual role makes them both a political representative and a community leader.

Who is running for Deputy?

Deputy: Quick Explainer
A deputy is an elected member of the States Assembly who represents a specific electoral district rather than the whole island or a parish. Deputies are chosen by voters within their district to speak on behalf of local residents and address community concerns. Their responsibilities include debating and voting on laws, examining government decisions, proposing policies, and holding ministers accountable. Deputies play a key role in shaping Jersey’s political direction and public services. Unlike constables, deputies do not manage parish administration, allowing them to focus mainly on legislation, policy, and representing the interests of their constituents in the Assembly.
