David Curtis

A FORMER president of the honorary police is set to stand in the upcoming election for the St Saviour Constable seat.

David Curtis has held a number of roles in the honorary police over the past two decades, initially in St John where he was chef de police and as a St Helier centenier for ten years. He was president of the association between 2018 and 2025.

Mr Curtis, who moved to St Saviour five years ago, said: “I would like to continue my parish service and feel the time is right for me to try as Constable.

“I am a huge supporter of the parish system and would like the opportunity to stand up for the concerns and issues of the parishioners of St Saviour.

“I sold my agricultural contracting business a few years ago, having worked hard to build it from scratch which has made me learn to listen to others and work hard as a team to achieve the outcome desired.”

The father-of-two said that he has seen “first hand the issues of young people” in the Island and that he was to help St Saviour’s children “gain better opportunities and recreational areas where they can enjoy being children and teenagers”.

“I would look to work closely with schools, youth clubs, sports associations, churches and clubs to ensure we are providing the best we can for all parishioners, including children,” he said.

“Being relatively new to St Saviour, but not to the parish system, I will be visiting as many associations and clubs over the coming weeks and months to hear what our residents’ issues are and look forward to meeting as many parishioners as I can.

“Hearing the parishioners’ views is crucial to the success of the parish, and I would look to hold regular drop in sessions if elected as a priority.”

The seat is currently held by St Saviour Constable Kevin Lewis, who is yet to confirm his election plans. Islanders will head to the polls on Sunday 7 June.
