WITH the local football season rapidly approaching its conclusion, silverware has already been spread across all levels of the game, while several major finals still remain on the calendar.
The latest side to get their hands on a trophy was St Ouen’s C, who came from behind to defeat First Tower United 2-1 in the Jersey Dog Club Challenge Cup final during midweek.
James Le Lievre fired First Tower ahead early on, but St Ouen’s responded superbly as goals from Kacper Smilek and Jack Bara completed the turnaround and secured silverware.
At the top end of the game, Jersey Wanderers First continue to chase a remarkable campaign after booking their place in the JFA Cup ‘Le Riche’ Trophy final with a dominant 5-0 win over St Clement First.

Hugo Pereira starred with a hat-trick, while Jamie Watling and Harry Scott also found the net to send the newly crowned Premiership 1 champions into the final against St Peter First on May 22.
St Peter secured their own spot in dramatic fashion following one of the games of the season against Grouville First.
After finishing 1-1 in normal time, the tie exploded into life in extra time as both sides traded goals in a frantic finish before the Crosskeys eventually prevailed 5-4 on penalties after a 3-3 draw.
Rory Baines, Kevin Camacho and Rhys Thomas scored for St Peter, while Robert Martins-Figueira netted twice for Grouville alongside Harrison Moon’s late strike. Moon also saw a crucial penalty saved in extra time.
Although St Clement fell short against Wanderers, they still have silverware ambitions of their own with a Wheway Memorial Trophy final against Guernsey’s Vale Rec set for May 30 at Grouville Football Pitch.
The Anchors have impressed throughout the competition, comfortably defeating two Guernsey opponents en route to the final.
Jersey Wanderers Reserves are also eyeing a second trophy of the campaign after an excellent week saw them defeat Sporting Academics 6-1 before edging St Ouen’s Reserves 2-1 to reach the JFA Bowl ‘The Willis Trophy’ final.
They will face Rozel Rovers First at Springfield on May 15, having already lifted the P.W. Touzel Memorial Trophy earlier this season.
In women’s football, Rozel Rovers continued their superb campaign with another convincing cup final victory.
Roisin Flynn scored four goals as Rozel defeated a Jersey select side 7-2 to lift the Zany Labbe Memorial Trophy.
Leah Morris, Marta Rodrigues and Charley Skinner added the others as Rozel secured a second trophy of the season while still competing for the Sylvia Spinola Memorial Cup.
Trinity First also added their name to the honours list after a thrilling 5-3 extra-time victory over St John First in the Tradesmen’s Trophy final at Springfield.
After a 3-3 draw in normal time, Trinity dug deep to seal the win and add to last season’s Jersey Dog Club Challenge Cup success.
Junior football has also delivered plenty of silverware success this season, particularly for St Paul’s.
Their Under-18 side produced a ruthless display to defeat Trinity 7-1 in the Treager Junior Memorial Trophy, while the Under-16s completed a league and Upton double following their recent inter-island success against Northerners.
Elsewhere, St Lawrence Under-16s claimed the Alex Scott Memorial Trophy with a composed 3-0 victory over Trinity, although their Under-14 side were beaten 4-0 by Grouville in the Cory Car Paints Trophy final.
With several major finals still to come before the curtain closes on the campaign, there remains plenty more silverware to fight for across Jersey football.
