POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman and child were injured when a ladder fell from a scaffolding truck on St Clement’s coast road.
The incident occurred on Grande Route de la Côte, between 12.45pm and 1.05pm on Tuesday 21 July.
The force said that a truck carrying scaffolding poles was travelling towards the Rice Bowl restaurant when a ladder came off the vehicle and struck two pedestrians who were walking on the beach-side pavement just before the Ambassador Hotel.
The pedestrians – an adult woman and a child – both suffered injuries. Police said the child was wearing a matching cream T-shirt and shorts, while the woman was wearing a black dress with blue shoes.
The driver of the truck is understood to have turned around to check on the injured pair and recover the ladder.
The vehicle involved has been described as a truck with a grey and red cab featuring a red diagonal stripe across the front. It was carrying multiple scaffolding poles on the back.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has any information that could assist their enquiries, to contact them on 612612 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via its online reporting form.
