A PARISH official is seeking election as a Deputy for St Helier South.

Independent candidate Jason Lagadu, whose parish work includes serving on the accounts committee in St Helier, said he believed the Island’s capital was often overlooked in matters of investment and quality of life.

Mr Lagadu, who has interests in the construction sector via his company Panic Services, said he wanted to check unbalanced population growth that put pressure on the housing market.

“Why are we outsourcing so much?” he asked. “I will support local business, strengthen our economy, and push for renewed investment in tourism and leisure – bringing back energy, opportunity, and long-term stability.”

Other election priorities cited by Mr Lagadu, one of nine candidates for three Deputy seats, were better solutions to the parking problems in St Helier, expanding the Millennium Town Park and changing the State pension to better reflect the cost of living and ensure older Islanders were not struggling.

“I’ve spent the last eight years serving the parish in various roles, challenging decisions and pushing for practical, commonsense solutions,” he said. “Now I’m standing to ensure our residents come first.”
