A ST John, St Lawrence and Trinity Deputy has confirmed she will seek a second term this summer.
Deputy Hilary Jeune will look to retain the seat she secured in 2022.
She is currently chair of the Environment, Housing and Infrastructure Scrutiny Panel and has previously been an Assistant Environment Minister. Alongside her Assembly work, Deputy Jeune chairs JAYF, Jersey’s youth homelessness charity.
There are three seats on offer in the district – with sitting Deputy Kirsten Morel and former St Saviour Deputy Peter ‘Mac’ McLinton having also confirmed their intention to stand. Current St John, St Lawrence and Trinity Deputies Elaine Millar and Andy Howell will be vacating their seats, with Deputy Millar set to contest the Senatorial election while Deputy Howell will stand for Trinity Constable.
Deputy Jeune said: “Islanders want competence and long-term planning — not short-term politics. I’m standing again to continue the detailed work that strengthens access to affordable housing, protects our environment, invests in the infrastructure our island relies on, and restores sustainability to our public finances.”
Deputy Jeune was a political newcomer four years ago, when she received more than 2,000 votes to win one of the Deputy seats in the district.
She added: “Over the next four years, my focus will be ensuring our young people see a future for themselves in Jersey, supporting our ageing population with secure and sustainable services, and backing a confident business community — particularly the many small businesses that are the backbone of our island.
“It is a privilege to represent St John, Trinity and St Lawrence, and I remain committed to practical, fair decisions that improve everyday life — because there is still more work to do.”
Deputy Jeune is inviting parishioners to visit www.hilaryjeune.com and share their views through a short questionnaire.
Islanders will head to the polls on Sunday 7 June – the first time a Jersey election will be held on a weekend.
