Perroud, from Switzerland, beat former champion and coach Ian Morgan with a fine display of attacking tennis at his first attempt at the title having moved to the Island nine months ago.

The left-hander dominated the first set at Grands Vaux with his strong serve and returns, winning it 6-0. However, Morgan fought back hard in the second set saving five match points, before losing the set 6-4.

There was a record entry into the club competition and in the ladies’ event Audrey Bois dominated to win the title for the first time, beating Alyssia Johnson 6-1, 6-0 in the final.
