A BUS driver has drawn warm praise after stopping his vehicle to come to the aid of some stricken wildlife.
The gallant Liberty Bus employee interrupted the journey of the service on route 8 in St Peter on Thursday when he saw some ducklings had fallen into a cattle-grid, which appears to have provided just as big a hurdle in stopping feathered creatures from crossing as it would for the bovine variety.
“Absolute legend” and “quality dude” were among the comments from Facebook users after news of the incident, and the safe rescue of the ducklings, was posted on social media, while another users suggested the driver should be nominated for an award.
Liberty Bus director Kevin Hart said he was unaware of the incident, but was pleased to learn of the driver’s response.
“I’d hope everyone would stop for ducklings. wouldn’t they,” he said. “I’m pleased to hear that as well as caring for their customers, our employers have been looking out for other road-users.”
