Surfing: Island duo selected for Junior World Championships

Sport | Published:

JERSEY will have two competitors taking part in the Vissla ISA World Junior Surf Championships next month following their selection for Team GB.

Mourant Ozannes Junior Academy riders Kitty Brewer (14) and Charlie Rio (16), who were part of the GB long squad, have been handed a place on the plane to California, and will travel out to America on 5 October before beginning their World campaign six days later.

Dave Ferguson, president of the JSC, said: 'We were super stoked to get three of our team riders into the long squad, and to have got two in the final team is an amazing achievement for the club. We have, with the support of Mourant Ozannes, invested hard in some top class training this year and along with the talent and dedication of these surfers the training has paid off. We send them with our best wishes; they will experience some top class surfing out there, we ask they do their best and wave the Jersey and Great Britain flag with pride. I couldn't be more pleased.'
