Emms urges Cann to aim for Glasgow Commonwealths

English number one Cann, 33, challenged all the way for Team GB’s only place at the Olympics in the women’s singles but was ousted by Scot Susan Egelstaff.

Cann is currently ranked 58th in the world – 21 places below Egelstaff – and was Jersey’s last hope for an Olympic representative at London 2012.

Cann will be 37 by the time of the next Games in Rio, and conceded she is not sure how long she will continue playing for.

However, Emms, who admits she was disappointed to find out she was not successful in her Olympic bid, insists she could follow the path of Nathan Robertson and continue to play at the highest level for at least another two years.
