Despite their best efforts over a gruelling year of qualifying there was huge disappointment for Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Cann, and doubles star Agathangelou.
Agathangelou, who partnered Heather Olver in the quest for qualification, said: ‘It is a massive disappointment not to make the team.We had a year of tournaments selected specifically to give us the best chance to qualify.
‘But because it is the first time we had ever tried to qualify, we probably didn’t choose the best ones.
‘We’ve had a really good year and have been consistently making finals but looking back we needed to be doing that in higher rated tournaments. Our average just wasn’t high enough.’
