THE COMPANY behind the Jersey Opera House has revealed who will be taking the reins as the theatre’s new chief executive.
Sebastian Warrack, the current executive director of Salisbury-based Wiltshire Creative, will be joining the newly re-opened theatre in January, bringing with him from the UK what the Opera House board described as a “distinguished record of leadership” in the performing arts sector.
In his current role, Mr Warrack has responsibility for Salisbury Playhouse, Salisbury International Arts Festival and Salisury Arts Centre.
The Opera House board said that his appointment would support the Island’s current arts strategy, which aims to develop new opportunities for artistic collaboration, audience development and cultural enrichment.
Commenting on his new role, Mr Warrack said: “Jersey Opera House has recently completed a spectacular £12.5m capital project, generously funded by the Jersey government, and I am hugely honoured to have been appointed as the new CEO of this immaculately restored theatre.
“I greatly look forward to working with its brilliant staff and board to develop the theatre’s next chapter together. I would like to pay tribute to my predecessors for establishing solid foundations on which we can base the theatre’s future, and I look forward to building on their achievements.”
Laura Robertson, interim chair of the Opera House board, added: “[Mr Warrack’s] proven leadership, deep industry knowledge and passion for the arts make him an exceptional choice to guide the organisation forward.
“Sebastian’s experience in driving financial resilience, navigating complex change and forging creative partnerships will be invaluable as we continue to build a vibrant, ambitious and sustainable future for the Opera House and for Jersey’s cultural community.”
