PLANS to demolish the former Plémont Bay Holiday Village to build 73 self-catering tourist chalets have been submitted to Planning.
Plémont Estates Ltd have applied to build 46 two-bed and 27 three-bed self-catering units, a clubhouse with leisure facilities, reception and a one-bed staff flat on the existing area.
But many States Members, heritage campaigners and mem-bers of the public have been against any redevelopment of the site for years, and the National Trust for Jersey considered buying it at one stage.
In October last year the States backed a proposal by St Ouen Constable Ken Vibert to investigate the value of the site so that negotiations to buy it and return it to nature could begin.
