NEW rules have been issued this week for firms which are employing workers who are not residentially qualified to live in Jersey.

Businesses wanting to bring in ‘J-category’ staff will be encouraged to provide training and show how they are benefiting the Island’s environment.

The new policy guidelines have been issued jointly by the Ministers for Economic Development and Housing, Philip Ozouf and Terry Le Main (pictured).

The ‘J’ licences, which can be valid for three or five years, are issued for workers who are regarded as ‘essential’ to a business or organisation, such as trained nurses, teachers, and senior financial services staff.
