This year, Jersey Racing is hosting a Family Day on 30 May. As part of this, they are inviting young Islanders to help organise the day. The volunteers will be doing everything from being the days event commentator to shadowing the Race Doctor and the Race Vet personnel.
This is a unique opportunity for young people to learn the many disciplines involved with bringing a race day to fruition, to spend time with the team at Les Landes and introduce them to a range of careers.
But who will the volunteers be?
With only a select few jobs available, and in anticipation of some being very popular, we encourage applying early. Jersey Racing and All Island Media (JEP, Bailiwick Express) will then contact applicants with each winner being allocated a job on the day. There will be a Training Day on 10 May, with Family Racing Day taking place on 30 May.
Entrants must be 12+ years old on 10 May to be part of the volunteer team. The list of shadow jobs available are:
- Clerk of The Course
- Lead Helper
- Race Balancer- (Weighing in and handicapping)
- Race Day Vets
- St. Johns Ambulance
- Commentator / Announcer
- Photographer
- Journalist
