‘Help find car park hit-and-run driver’

Mother-of-two Julie Bourke is urging Islanders with information to ‘come forward and do the right thing’ after the front left wing and wheel of her Kia car was bent following an incident in Snow Hill car park.

The States police are investigating and are analysing CCTV. They are also looking at a section of bumper from another vehicle which was found at the scene.

Mrs Bourke’s 21-year-old son took the car from their St Peter home into town to visit his girlfriend. He parked it in a space near the entrance to the car park on Saturday 29 April at 4 pm and discovered the damage at around 12.10 pm the following day.

Mrs Bourke, a senior strategy officer for trust firm Zedra said: ‘I think it was a car leaving the car park that has been driving at speed and then suddenly had to swerve or put their brakes on.

‘I am absolutely shocked that someone could just do that and just leave the car.’

Anyone with any information should contact the police on 612612, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
