Ton-up for Jersey Regatta

A total of 102 boats are set to take part in the three-day sailing event which begins with registration and a welcome reception at St Helier Yacht Club tonight. Racing gets under way in St Aubin’s Bay on Friday at 9.40 am and there is strong representation in all classes which includes cruiser, dayboat, sport catamaran and dinghy events.

There is a reception at the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club tomorrow evening and a regatta party there on Saturday evening. A major racing highlight will be the appearance of 26 Optimist dinghies, something never before seen in St Aubin’s Bay.

The cruiser, dayboat, sport-catamaran and fast dinghy classes are also turning out in force.

The weather forecast promises light to moderate northerly winds that organisers say should provide excellent racing and a fantastic spectacle for participants, ranging in age from eight to 80, and spectators alike.
