A CHARITY that supports adults with learning disabilities is inviting Islanders to join a new “volunteering hub” to help with its fundraising initiatives.
Les Amis has said it has been facing problems with increasing costs, meaning it has to increase its fundraising activities to ensure it can continue to meet the needs of its residents and those who use the services daily.
The charity is developing a volunteer hub to boost its fundraising campaigns and provide further cover of events throughout the year.
These opportunities include selling raffle tickets, helping to set up and run stalls to raise awareness of the organisation and assisting at community events that Les Amis is involved with such as the Island Walk and the Standard Chartered Jersey marathon.
Shaun Findlay, managing director of Les Amis, highlighted the need for more volunteers to help people spread awareness of the essential work they do, currently supporting around 100 adults at any given time.
He said: “Our fundraising team is already doing a fantastic job at increasing awareness about the work we do and leading our fundraising efforts, but we need support from a silent army of volunteers to make sure we can keep putting the message out there about the vital work that Les Amis does.
“We support some of the most vulnerable people in our society by improving their quality of life and their dignity at the end of their lives. That’s why we’re welcoming Islanders who would like to volunteer their time to help”.
A volunteering evening is due to be held in the Le Capelain Gallery at the St Helier Town Hall on Thursday 16 April, between 5.30pm and 7pm.
Attendees can ask questions about the application process and listen to board members.
Those who are interested but unable to attend are asked to contact pr.fundraising@lesamis.org.je.
