A FREQUENT traveller scheme for discounts on ferry travel is being developed by DFDS, the Economic Development Minister has confirmed.
Under the terms of their contract, the Danish ferry firm are required to develop a residential marketing strategy which contains pricing models which offer targeted discounts for Islanders as well as multi-trip ticket options that reduce the cost for frequent travellers.
Deputy Kirsten Morel has said there is “no target date” for the launch of the scheme but added that ministers have “emphasised that it wishes to see this happen as soon as possible”.
Responding to a written States question from Deputy Montfort Tadier, the Economic Development Minister said: “DFDS is also developing a frequent traveller scheme and officers are in continuing discussions with the operator about the scheme’s design. At the moment, there is no target date for the scheme to be launched.”
Deputy Morel has also confirmed that he will release a redacted version of the concession agreement with the firm following a request from the Economic and International Affairs Scrutiny Panel, which Deputy Tadier chairs.
The minister said: “Further to the provision of the full and unredacted Concession Agreement to the Economic and International Affairs Panel on 11 March 2025, the Deputy will be aware that I have agreed to publish a redacted version of the concession agreement in a recent letter to his Panel.
“Commercial partners have a legitimate expectation of a requisite level of confidentiality which protects, or otherwise does not compromise, their own commercial integrity and so it is important that care is taken in publishing the concession agreement.
My officers are currently working to prepare a redacted version of the concession agreement which will be published in due course.”
