ISLANDERS will be able to study for a master’s degree on-Island at University College Jersey after the higher education institution unveiled its first programme at that level.
Those Island Studies programme – a practical and academic course that explores a wide range of topics relevant to island life – will see those who complete it become a Master of Research (MRes).
The two-year part-time programme is set to begin in September and is being delivered in partnership with, and accredited by, the University of Plymouth. It is designed for working professionals.
The course will cost £4,767.50 per student per year.
Kate Hobbs, Highlands College vice-principal for curriculum and acting head of UCJ said the launch was “a significant milestone” in the development of on-island higher education.
She added that the programme is “a strategic investment in the island’s future”.
“By equipping islanders with advanced research skills and the ability to tackle real-world challenges,” Ms Hobbs said, “this programme supports Jersey’s ambition to grow as a centre of innovation, knowledge, and professional development.”
