ISLANDERS are being invited to share their views on whether recreational cannabis should be legalised in Jersey.

While medicinal cannabis use is permitted for use in Jersey by patients holding a prescription, recreational use is forbidden.

But this could be set to change following a States Assembly debate in November, when politicians will be asked whether Jersey should follow the lead of other countries in relation to non-medicinal cannabis use.

Ahead of this, the government is urging islanders to complete a survey and said the findings would be used to “inform the Assembly’s debate”.

Islanders who complete the survey will also be invited to attend one of three focus group sessions planned for the coming weeks.

The survey can be found on www.gov.je/consultations.
