INFORMATION regarding the vaccination status of some Islanders hospitalised by Covid-19 last year is to be revealed.

Health Minister Richard Renouf said a report on the vaccination status of adult patients in hospital as a result of the virus between July and December 2021 would be published by the end of next week.

The decision, which has been agreed by the Competent Authority Ministers, follows a report published last week about the vaccine status of positive cases in people aged 12 and over between July and November 2021. It showed that unvaccinated Islanders were between 2.2 to 3.7 times more likely to test positive for the virus than those who had received at least two doses.

At the time, public health director Professor Peter Bradley said a feasibility assessment was being carried out to see if there was a way the vaccination status of Islanders in hospital could be reported, while still maintaining patient confidentiality.

Deputy Renouf said: ‘Making important data available to Islanders in an open and transparent way is a priority. However, as with all reports that are published which contain the medical data of Islanders, we must ensure that confidentiality and the privacy of patients is not breached.’
