A range of new measures is to be introduced by the firm, which, according to Economic Development Minister Lyndon Farnham, will be investing significant funds to improve its operation.

And wider issues, including the viability of the existing fleet, are to be examined this year as part of a comprehensive service review that could lead to further changes.

Senator Farnham and Chief Minister Ian Gorst, along with their Guernsey counterparts, met the company twice last week to discuss the changes and to receive a detailed remediation plan designed to bring about improvements – those meetings came after Jersey Harbourmaster Captain Phil Buckley wrote to the company on behalf of the States asking it to outline how it would remedy what he described as ‘breaches’ to the operational agreement.
