Coach urges Reds to rise to the occasion

The business end of the day will be the men’s match, from 3.30 pm, with Jersey keen to end Guernsey’s current three-match winning run.

Jersey’s men’s team pulled back a 20-point deficit last year and they missed a three-point basket in the dying seconds leaving Guernsey the victors by just two points.

The atmosphere at basketball matches is always electric and the razzmatazz starts with the under-17s at 10 am. The Jersey Wheelers are putting on a wheelchair basketball demonstration at 12 noon before the under-21s take centre stage between 1 and 2.30 pm.

Various fun themed basketball shooting competitions follow for players and crowd interaction before the main men’s match . There is no women’s game this weekend as Jersey have a number of players injured therefore they are unable to raise a team.
