Leonis take on Essex at Radisson

The large bill ensures a lively evening with a vast mixture of styles, weights and levels of experience.

At the top end of the bill, which includes bouts from mighty atom to super heavyweight, are experienced welterweights Boyd Munroe and Alex Begbie, light-middleweight Decio Ferreira, plus light-heavy Mike Connoghan and Ben Cairney.

Cairney and Munroe impressed with victories on the recent Sugar Ray Leonard show, particularly Munroe, who won the boxer of the evening award. These are tested boxers who will please the crowd, as will as the return of Leonis’s Scottish warrior, Big John McKechnie.

But Leonis also have a wealth of talent coming out of South Hill and eager to test themselves in the ring. Featherweight Tom Frame (17) is a terrific prospect and eager to box as a senior, while Ryan Hodgson, who ran his first marathon recently, finishing tenth in under three hours, brings an all-action style to the show.

Seniors making their first appearance in the ring are light-heavyweight John Felton (21) and light-middleweight Graham Crawford.

Also on the bill is Alex Saunders and younger schoolboys Liam McCormack, Ben Smyle and Stephen Buchanan.
