Guernsey’s Peter Jory was overnight leader last night alongside two English shooters with one point down, while Jersey’s Andrew Le Cheminant lies 18th (-5), Bruce Horwood 31st (-6), Richard Benest 35th (-6) and Chris Cotillard 44th (-6). David Le Quesne was just off the board on seven under.
Le Quesne dominated play in the 300 yard Donegall shoot on Saturday, tying for first place with 13 others out of 1,260 shooters. However, he only managed 23 out of 25 in the tie shoot and finished 12th. Alex Langley was Jersey’s only other 50 in this competition.
In the 1,000 yard Lovell shoot, Daniel Richardson fired a tidy 48, followed by Horwood, Phil Amy, Mick Cotillard, Colin Mallett, Alex Langley and Lulu Watson all scoring 47.
Jersey’s shooters also made a strong start in the Grand Aggregate which began on Saturday afternoon with the Daily Telegraph competition.
Benest fired best with a 75.10 followed by Chris Cotillard with 75.07 – both making the prize lists. Horwood led the 74s with 13 centre-bulls, while Le Cheminant took 11 centres and Le Quesne and Mallett took six each.
Jersey’s top shots in the Daily Mail competition were Richardson on 74 out of 75 and Chris Cotillard, Horwood, Benest and Langley all on 73s.
In the Alexandra, Le Cheminant placed fifth with a 50.07 at 600 yards and Horwood 15th, also with 50.07 but placing lower because of an inferior finish.
Le Cheminant was also top shot in the long range Duke of Cambridge with the only Jersey 50, while Chris Cotillard, John Norman and Mallett both mastered the wind to shoot 49s. A number of Jersey shooters are also going well at long range and could feature in the prestigious Donaldson Memorial final to be shot tomorrow night.
