The Jersey Athletics Association, which has its first meeting on Monday, will act as an umbrella organisation for the Island’s athletics clubs who up until now have existed without much communication between them.
The aim of the organisation will be to encourage the sharing of resources and ideas to help with the development of athletics in the Island – including working closely with schools.
It will be run by a committee, to be voted on at Monday’s meeting, which will consist of two people from each area that the association will represent.
Much of the preparation for the new association, which is the first athletics one of its kind in Jersey, has been done by athletics development officer, Andrew Winnie, Paul Huddlestone and Mark Wildern.
