BROTHER and sister duo Zane and Shadine Duquemin have scored double gold – and new indoor personal best performances – at the South of England Indoor Athletics Championships.
Shadine set a new championship record in the U15 shot put with an 11.46m throw that should put her in contention to win a medal at the England Open Championships next month.
Zane exceeded his own shot put PB by 32cm, throwing 15.28m to win the U20 age group in his first year. Both Duquemins are coached by John Hillier, a renowned London-based coach, who has long been a frequent visitor to the Island where he trains many of Jersey Spartan squad.
Teammate Kathryn Rothwell won bronze in the U17 girls’ shot put with a personal best throw of 10.49m, and 14-year-old Grace Bravery, taking part in her very first ever indoor championship event, ran a very competitive 200m but did not manage to make the final.
