Both teenagers lost their matches representing Credit Suisse Jersey in back-to-back matches away to Division II leaders Worcestershire 2nds.
Jersey were beaten 11-4 on Saturday and 9-6 on Sunday, gaining a vital bonus point in their second defeat.
Joint team manager Ian Coombs-Goodfellow said: ‘We were weakened for a variety of reasons but the youngsters can be extremely proud of their performances.
‘They have stepped up to help the team out and without question they have learned from the experience and both raised their games again on the Sunday.
‘Our goals at the start of the season were to remain in the division and possibly give youngsters a chance of a county game.
We can still win the division but it would mean winning all our matches and other results going our way.
‘We’ve also now blooded the youngsters and full credit to them.
Unfortunately they did not win any games but I’m sure if other opportunities arise it won’t be long before they record their first wins.’
Illness forced Kim Ashton to withdraw late leaving Jersey with just three women players.
Coombs-Goodfellow added: ‘It’s the first time in 15 years we’ve conceded a ladies’ doubles match and unfortunately we had to do it on both days because we only had three woman players.
‘With all the changes we had to make for the weekend it’s cost us an extra £750 to play.
It’s really frustrating and it’s no wonder many sports struggle to play away with what the airlines are charging for changes these days.’
Chris Cotillard and Kerry Coombs-Goodfellow won six out of their eight matches on both days, both played at number one and both won without dropping a set.
They also played as the top mixed doubles pairing winning both matches in straight sets.
Coombs-Goodfellow, partnered with Lindsey Woodward for the first time, won two out of four ladies doubles matches losing to Worcestershire’s top pair twice.
Junior Alex Hutchings put up a very good performance on both days before losing 21-19, 21-15 and 22-20, 17-21, 21-16 to Lee Wicks and David Pritchard respectively.
Fellow junior Tom Gibbs, partnered by Steve McGrath, showed a lot of promise and despite losing four matches, one went to three sets and two other sets resulted in 21-18 and 21-19 defeats.
Dimple Macdonald, who is not renowned as a singles player, typified the team’s spirit by replacing Ashton in the singles.
