Tigers’ 16 swimmers recorded 78 personal best times from 115 swims at the two-day long course meet where NQTs were attained by Ian Black (100m breast-stroke and 200 individual medley); Emma Glendening (100 and 200 freestyle); Kerry Smith (100 back); JJ Gallichan (100 free) and Tom Gallichan (200 back).
Tigers coach Nathan Jegou said: ‘To gain a National qualifying time is great and to do it so early in the season takes a bit of pressure off so swimmers can concentrate on getting times in other sections.
‘It’s also proof to those that are there or thereabout that times are attainable and a great incentive for them.
‘To have five qualified at this stage of the season is a bonus.
Ten swimmers went to the Nationals last year and hopefully we can achieve the same number or above this time.
‘There are a lot more opportunities ahead and I’m sure everyone will continue to do their best in order to qualify.’
The Nationals take place at Pond’s Forge in Sheffield in August.
