Swimming a personal best of 2.20.42 min in the final of the IM secured Speller her first silver medal at senior level and propelled her into the top 20 of the British senior rankings in this event for the first time.
The 19-year-old also set a PB as she placed fourth in the 400m IM, swimming 4.56.76 min, as well as finishing fourth in the 400m freestyle.
Her IM swims were also good enough to break two Jersey Swimming Club records at the Sheffield event.
Also involved in the early rounds of relays, Speller played a vital part in helping her Bath University side win the top women’s team.
Bath also won top men’s team and therefore were crowned the top overall team – beating Loughborough on all three occasions.
Speller will now prepare for the Bath International before taking part in the Spanish Nationals just before Christmas.
Speller’s JSC club-mates were also in action in the UK as they took part in a Grade I meet in Haslemere with over 500 swimmers competing.
Becky le Maistre won a silver medal in the 400m IM as well as bronze medals in the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly.
Jemma Carter swam to silver in the 50m breast-stroke and bronze in the 100m event, also taking two fourth places in the 400m freestyle and 400m IM.
The squad swam a total of 143 events with 41 personal bests recorded and only eight swims outside the 3 per cent target.
