Former president Senator Philip Ozouf, Senator Ted Vibert and Deputy Collin Egré have all thrown their hats into the ring to take on the poisoned chalice committee that has already seen two presidents this year.
All three were involved in the fall of the previous committee.
Senator Ozouf was president, but resigned before Deputy Egré’s vote of no confidence was debated, and Senator Vibert has been a dissenting voice on the committee over the last few months.
The other members of the former committee were the vice-president, Deputy Jackie Hilton, the Constable of St Saviour, Phil Ozouf, and Deputies Jacqui Huet, Mike Taylor and Guy de Faye.
The election, which has to be held at the start of the next sitting on Tuesday 28 September, could follow the system used for the president of the Policy and Resources Committee, allowing each candidate to make a five-minute speech and then answer questions from the floor of the House for ten minutes.
