395 motorists caught on the phone in 2016

A total of 395 drivers have been stopped since the start of the year – compared with 371 last year and 375 in 2014.

Anyone caught driving while using their phone in Jersey can either receive a fine of between £25 and £200, imprisonment of between two days and 21 days, words of advice or a written caution.

The most common punishment is a £100 fine, which 188 drivers have already received this year.
