Apple has announced it is discontinuing the iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle.
The company’s decision to stop selling the two music players – which came out back in 2005 as less expensive and small alternatives to the standard iPod – reflects the rise in people storing or streaming their tunes on smartphones.
While Apple plans to continue selling its internet-connected iPod Touch, many Twitter users aren’t processing the news about the Nano and Shuffle well…

RIP #ipodshuffle, best workout accessory ever made. Completely beyond me why they would choose to retire such a fantastic piece of tech.

My iPod still works fine, dammit, and you can pry it out of my cold dead recharge socket if you want to come for it.

I’m sad that Apple is officially killing the iPod Nano. I like having a dedicated “podcast player” so that my phone can do other tasks.

Just yesterday I replaced my 1st generation iPod clickwheel with a nano. Sure, I’m old and irrelevant, but I DON’T CARE!

Stay strong, everyone.
