Mixed Youth Summer Touch League back

The Mixed Youth Summer Touch League began in 2022 and enters its third season this evening

TONIGHT marks the return of the Mixed Youth Summer Touch League (MYSTL), which now enters its third season since inception.

MYSTL is a collaboration between Jersey Rugby Club Minis & Juniors and the Jersey Touch Association and offers girls and boys between school years five and nine the opportunity to learn the sport of touch.

“Touch is a fabulous, inclusive form of rugby, which enables us to create mixed age and gender teams,” said organiser Tony Taylor.

“The kids have a lot of fun, they develop new skills and improve fitness.”

MYSTL has seen over a hundred children take part in the league in its first two seasons, with this campaign taking place at Jersey Rugby Club over nine weeks on Wednesday evenings.

Kevin Hart, development officer at Jersey Touch Association, said: “We’re very keen to attract girls and boys who may not have played rugby or perhaps just tried it at school.

“Our coaches will be providing guidance on core skills and will prepare mixed teams for our league. But above all it’s about the kids having fun.”

Participation is free to all, with registration open at juniortouch@jrfc.je.
