THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD Jersey badminton player Rory Le Masurier has enjoyed a remarkable 2025 season, finishing the year as the Island’s most successful junior player and earning national recognition for his performances on the English circuit.
Le Masurier rounded off the year in style at the Badminton England Under-15 National Championships at Warwick University in December, where he won a silver medal in the mixed doubles event alongside partner Ava Dodkins of Staffordshire.

Competing against the best players in the country, the pair reached the final without dropping a set, before being beaten by the top seeds in two competitive games.
The result was particularly impressive given that Le Masurier and Dodkins are both still in the younger year of the under-15 age group.
Entering the tournament as third and fourth seeds, they progressed confidently through the group stages, quarter-finals and semi-finals, underlining their status as one of the strongest mixed doubles pairings in junior badminton.
Le Masurier also competed in singles and boys’ doubles at Nationals, where he produced a number of strong performances and demonstrated that he belonged at the highest level of junior competition.

One of his Jersey coaches, Gavin Carter, was on hand to provide courtside support during the championships.
His consistency throughout the season was further recognised earlier in December, when Le Masurier was selected to represent England at the prestigious Under-15 “French Borders” tournament in Strasbourg later this month.
He was one of only four boys chosen nationwide, reflecting a year of strong results, commitment to training and regular success on the junior circuit.
The year has also seen Le Masurier finish ranked number one in Jersey in all three disciplines for his age group.
His singles ranking was boosted by an outstanding victory at the Suffolk Under-19 Silver tournament in October, where he recorded wins over players he had previously struggled against, highlighting his growing strength away from his favoured doubles disciplines.
Doubles has remained a major strength for the teenager, with Le Masurier enjoying a highly successful partnership with Dodkins in mixed doubles, as well as consistent success in boys’ doubles alongside Aarav Kotian of Kent.
Both partners have also been selected to travel to France as part of the England squad.
Off the court, Le Masurier’s progress has been recognised with kit sponsorship from Li-Ningshop.co.uk, capping a year in which his commitment and results have continued to gather momentum.

Le Masurier has also benefited from support through the Jersey Sport Performance Programme, which has enabled him to compete in European events and access specialist strength and conditioning coaching.
He has already begun 2026 in strong form, claiming mixed doubles gold at a recent Under-19 tournament in Northamptonshire.
Reflecting on his season, Le Masurier said: “It’s been a really good year and a lot of hard work. I feel like I’ve made big improvements, especially in singles, and I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
With another busy year ahead as he enters the top year of the under-15 age group, Jersey’s rising badminton star is showing no signs of slowing down.
