FOOTBALL superstar Gareth Bale could make an appearance in Jersey later this year, as part of the 2023 Legends Tour Celebrity Series.

The Welshman (below) has strong ties to the Tour and looks set to be offered an invite to play at La Moye Golf Club from 8-11 June, alongside the likes of former Liverpool and England striker Robbie Fowler, who won the celebrity event here in 2022.

In the wake of hanging up his boots in January, Bale’s golfing ability stunned world number three Jon Rahm, who jokingly said ‘you can’t be so good at professional football and golf at the same time, that just doesn’t seem fair.’

Bale famously prioritised ‘Wales, golf, football. In that order,’ and that statement has never been more literal, turning heads during the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this week on the PGA Tour.

Keith Mitchell, the Legends Tour’s chief marketing officer, said: ‘Gareth Bale obviously has an incredible passion for golf and it has been well-documented that he is keen to test his game at a high level.

‘We would love him to be involved in our Celebrity Series and we would certainly be keen to extend an official invitation to him to play in our events, including the Jersey Legends in June.

‘He has helped support the Wales Open for the past two years so he is well known to us, and obviously there has been a fair amount of speculation that he is keen to see how far he could go in the game.’

The Legends Tour run an Alliance Series, which gives local golfers the chance to mix with the celebrities and professionals.

Priced at £8,000 per person, those playing will get to complete three rounds of golf – one in the Celebrity Series and two in the Alliance Series – while also staying three nights in the official tournament hotel, receiving a bespoke gift pack and invitations to all exclusive functions.

At £2,500 per person, the Celebrity Series event in Jersey can be purchased individually or in teams of two and will see players line up alongside a celebrity and a professional.

Those taking part receive access to tournament facilities, breakfast alongside the stars and bespoke gifts.
