THE Jersey Sailing Association have selected a four-man squad for the 2023 Island Games in Guernsey, following trials at St Catherine’s Bay and St Aubin’s Bay.

Dylan Griffiths will be participating in his second Games after being selected to compete in international Laser class six for small single-handed dinghies. He claimed 13th in the Laser standard rig at Jersey 2015.

Joining him in the same class, and making his Games debut, is Ollie Boyle, while James Tilley and Will Dengate will also make their first appearances, qualifying to represent Jersey in international class seven for Olympic single-handed dinghies.

Griffiths finished top of the qualifying rankings having won three of the six races for a net score of seven. Boyle claimed second on 14 points.

Tilley won all six races to finish clear at the top of the class-seven rankings, while Dengate pipped previous Games competitor George Moisan to second place by one point.

The 2023 Games – to be held by Guernsey two years later than planned, following the cancellation of the biennial event in 2021 – will take place from 8-14 July.
