Harvey Biljon’s side started the stronger of the two and took an early lead, but fell away to a decisive 22-10 defeat against the promotion-hunters from south Yorkshire.

Despite starting strongly and taking the lead through a well worked solo-effort try from debutant scrum-half Max Green, the Reds got pinged five times in nearly as many minutes at the start of the second-half and allowed unbeaten Doncaster to get into the ascendancy.

It is the third time in four games Jersey have given away an early lead to come away with nothing.

Despite regrouping in the last 20 minutes and coming close to scoring several times late on the Reds couldn’t break Knights’ tightly-knitted defensive line.
