At the first long course gala of the season, at Pond’s Forge, it was a stern test for the 29 Tigers swimmers but they delivered with some excellent results against several senior and junior internationals.
Four Island records were achieved in all, two each from Tom Gallichan and Ian Black.
Gallichan claimed Island senior records in the men’s 100 metre freestyle, in 52 minutes and five seconds, and in the men’s 50m backstroke, the latter in 27.50 seconds to beat Simon Le Couilliard’s time of 27.54 achieved in Australia just a few days ago.
