The 20-year-old, who is ranked number three in Britain, beat American Jamie Lee Hampton 6-1, 6-4.
Watson won her first-ever match at Wimbledon on Monday, beating the Czech Republic’s Iveta Benesova.
And yesterday, she was named in the British team to play in the London Olympics this summer. She will play in the women’s doubles with Laura Robson, who lost her first-round singles match at Wimbledon yesterday.
Meanwhile, Jersey’s Scott Clayton has been granted a wild card to the main draw of Junior Wimbledon. Jersey’s Clayton (18) earned his place having won a play-off in a mini wild card qualifying event.
He topped his group winning all three of his matches giving him entry into the prestigious tournament. He will be making his Wimbledon debut in his last year as a junior player, and will be hoping to emulate some of the success of fellow Brit Liam Broady, who last year reached the boys’ singles final.
