The 19-year-old, who won St Helier Yacht Club’s third Cairn Coastal Series race back in May, will join 22 of Britain’s aspiring young keelboat sailing talents on a programme that covers all aspects of racing, training, boat maintenance and personal preparation.
The Academy is an initiative of the BKA, the Royal Yachting Association and the UK Sailing Association.
Scholefield won his place from an initial attendance of 75 at selection weekends held at the UKSA’s headquarters in Cowes, the Isle of Wight.
