The Royal Court was sitting in the Magistrate's Court building.

A 29-YEAR-OLD man has been warned he could face jail after being caught driving his motorbike at more than 110mph.

Andrew Manuel Carvalho Franco appeared at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday to plead guilty to driving at nearly three times the Island’s maximum 40mph speed limit.

He admitted a charge of dangerous driving after being clocked at 111mph along Le Route Du Ouest in St Ouen on 19 March 2026.

Relief Magistrate Peter Harris, presiding, noted that the defendant also had “some other motoring matters” on his record stemming from previous parish hall enquiries.

He explained to Franco that his guilty plea brings with it a “mandatory disqualification” prohibiting him from operating any motor vehicle in Jersey.

Franco also admitted a single count of failing to update his address.

Sentencing was adjourned until 30 June for a pre-sentence report to take place.

Addressing Franco, Mr Harris said: “The reason why I’m specifically asking for a full report is because the guidelines say this crosses the custody threshold and there is risk of going to prison.

“In the circumstances that has to be a distinct possibility – I’m not saying what the sentence will be – but you need to be aware of that.”

Franco was released on bail.
