THE record for Jersey’s hottest-ever temperature during May has been broken this afternoon… for the second time in less than 24 hours.
After a high of 30.1°C was recorded at just after 3pm yesterday, the mercury soared even higher by early afternoon today, with Jersey Met predicting a maximum of around 33°C – and potentially a degree higher tomorrow.

The previous record for May was 28.9°C, set on 30 May 2003.
The forecaster also confirmed that the overnight “low” temperature of 19.1°C had been another record, breaking the previous mark for May, set in 1995.
As thousands of Islanders and visitors headed to beaches in a bid to cool off, official advice has been issued in the light of the hot weather.
Public Health recommended avoiding the heat while the sun was at its highest, as well as the use of hats, high-factor sunscreen, blinds and umbrellas, while RNLI Jersey urged beach-goers to follow safety advice about staying hydrated, checking tide times and swimming between the flags.
