THE Opera House is set to welcome stars of the new Bergerac next month with a Jersey premiere for the revamped detective drama’s second series.
The screening, which will be followed by a drinks reception at the Grand Hotel, marks a change in venue from last year’s red-carpet event – which saw 600 Islanders gather at Cineworld for a first look at the reboot’s debut season ahead of its wider release.
Executive producer Brian Constantine said that the series two premiere will take place in March, with further details to be announced later this month.
He said: “This promises to be a night of silver-screen glamour and a celebration of Bergerac once again returning to Jersey.”

Mr Constantine continued: “The stars will be descending on the Island, with the great and the good alongside corporate sponsors rubbing shoulders with the cast and creatives behind the show.”
The first series, which helped UKTV achieve “its best performance on record” in 2025, drew in 2.4 million viewers across U and U&DRAMA – making it the highest-rating show on the network.
Mr Constantine added: “The Jersey premiere marks the culmination of an outstanding run for season one, which delivered record-breaking viewing figures and achieved very significant global sales, firmly re-establishing Bergerac as a major international television success.”
The original Bergerac, which was created by Robert Banks Stewart, starred John Nettles and ran on the BBC between 1981 and 1991.
A teaser trailer for the next series was released by UKTV earlier this month, with the BBC Studios-owned broadcaster announcing “the hotly anticipated return of Bergerac to U and U&DRAMA in the spring”.
It will see Jim Bergerac – played by Irish actor Damien Molony – take on “the most challenging case of his career”, when the groom at a wedding reception is found murdered in his hotel room.
