A CHARITY is encouraging Islanders with disability to share their experiences and discuss the barriers they face through a series of evening sessions.
Enable Jersey works alongside people living with disabilities and long-term conditions, as well as family members, friends, and carers.
Its Enable Voice initiative, which was launched in 2025, is designed to provide a safe space for people to discuss the barriers they face and help shape Islandwide conversations on issues such as benefits, access to public buildings, healthcare, and wider policy change
The charity already holds daytime meetings but is now introducing an evening option to ensure those who are unable to attend during the day are not excluded.
Suzanne Day, support services manager at Enable Jersey, said: “Voice is about listening to what people are telling us – the barriers they face day to day – and working together to find ways to overcome them.
“It’s also about connection: meeting others, having a chat over a cuppa, and knowing you’re not alone. After the success of our daytime sessions, we’re really pleased to be launching an evening group so more people can take part.”
The first evening session is due to take place on Thursday 5 February at Osprey House, Kingsman Offices, 5–7 Old Street, St Helier, between 6pm and 7pm.
Anyone living with a disability or long-term condition, or caring for a family member, is invited to attend and can register their interest by emailing suzanne@enablejersey.org or calling or texting 07829 933712 to RSVP.
