BERGERAC was UKTV’s highest-rating show in 2025, the BBC Studios-owned broadcaster has revealed.

Executive producer Brian Constantine cited the “phenomenal” response from audiences after the revamped detective drama was watched by millions.

The first season aired in February last year, offering a “contemporary twist” on the iconic 80s show of the same name created by Robert Banks Stewart.

Filming for the reboot’s second series, which is expected to air in early 2026, concluded in October.

UKTV recently revealed that it achieved “its best performance on record” in 2025.

Among the notable contributions to that performance was Bergerac, which was watched by 2.4 million viewers across U and U&DRAMA – making it the highest-rating show on the network.

Steve North, chief content officer for UKTV, said: “The strength and breadth of our content slate continues to power both UKTV’s linear channels and our U streaming service to exceptional performance.

“Our drama originations – including Bergerac, The Marlow Murder Club and Mark Gatiss’ outstanding Bookish – have clearly resonated with audiences, and I’m delighted that all three will return later this year.”

Mr Constantine said: “Seeing Bergerac become UKTV’s highest-rating show and play such a key role in the network’s record-breaking year is incredibly rewarding for everyone involved.”

He continued: “The response from audiences has been phenomenal, and it’s a real testament to the talent, passion and hard work of our cast and crew.

“Jersey has a proud creative heritage, and we’re thrilled that the Island is once again at the heart of a drama that’s resonating so strongly with viewers. This success belongs to Jersey as much as it does to us.”
