IT may be a new year, but road closures look set to continue to be an issue for motorists.

Several major roads around the Island are to be affected by closures and delays in the next few weeks.

The government has listed all areas impacted by planned and emergency works being carried out by local utilities such as Jersey Water and Jersey Electricity.

Over the coming weeks and months, motorists and pedestrians should expect diversions, temporary speed restrictions or traffic build-up.

Roads currently closed in St Helier include: Broad Street until April, La Grande Route de St Jean until Saturday 11 January, La Motte Street between Hill Street and Queen Street until Tuesday 6 January.

Starting next week, Clarence Road between College Hill and Grosvenor Street will be closed from Monday 5 to Saturday 30 January.

St John’s Road, between Clubley Estate and Undercliffe Road, will also be closed between Monday 5 to Saturday 24 January.

In St. Peter, La Grande Route de St Pierre from the junction with La Petite Rue de l’Eglise up to St Peter’s Technical Park will close once again from Monday 5 to Thursday 30 April.

And in St. Clement, La Grande Route de la Cote between St Nicholas Avenue and Kingsley Avenue will close from Tuesday 6 to Tuesday 13 January.

The government has said that all dates and details of the works are subject to change based on “project conditions and progress”.

More detailed information on each closure as well as additional notice of works will be added to the live traffic report available through the government website.
