JERSEY HOSPICE is offering to take the hassle out of recycling Christmas trees this year for Islanders.

Sponsored by Rathbones, the palliative care charity’s annual festive fundraiser sees a team of volunteers circulate the Island to collect trees from outside registered people’s homes in January.

The trees are then delivered to the green waste team at La Collette for conversion to soil improver for local farms and gardens.

Anyone interested must register before midnight on the website trees.jerseyhospicecare.com by Sunday 4 January, and is asked to make a minimum donation of £15. Businesses wanting their trees collected have until 09:00 on Monday 5 January to register.

Collection dates are 7 and 8 January for St Helier businesses, and 10 and 11 January for residential collections and businesses outside the parish.
