FILMING for the second series of the new Bergerac was yesterday seen taking place at an “iconic” location in the west of the Island – as those working on the show seek to give “a respectful nod” to the original detective drama “while creating something fresh and contemporary”.
Executive producer Brian Constantine said that “Jersey itself has always been one of the stars of the series”.
He made the comments after Islanders spotted filming taking place at the Old Court House in St Aubin.
Fans of the original series will remember the location was once ‘The Royal Barge’ in the show created by Robert Banks Stewart, which starred John Nettles and ran on the BBC between 1981 and 1991.
Commissioned by BBC-owned broadcaster UKTV, the first season of the long-anticipated reboot launched in February on U and U&DRAMA, with filming for a second series currently underway.

St Brelade’s Bay and the Havre des Pas bathing pool are also among the locations used so far.
Mr Constantine yesterday told the JEP that it was “a real privilege” to be filming at the Old Court House.
“Returning to such an iconic location feels like a perfect way to honour Bergerac’s legacy while introducing the show to a new generation,” he continued.
“Jersey itself has always been one of the stars of the series, and we’re excited to showcase its unique character again – from St Helier’s historic streets to the Island’s stunning coastline.”

Mr Constantine added: “These familiar backdrops are not just locations, they’re part of the story, and we’re delighted to give a respectful nod to the original while creating something fresh and contemporary.”
